We're dog friendly!   Well-behaved pooches are very welcome at Whistlestop Valley on general admissions days and are permitted to travel free-of-charge on the Kirklees Light Railway. All we ask is that book your dog a ticket.   Dogs are allowed inside the facilities (except the playgrounds and jumping pillow) and our eateries but they must be kept under control and on a short leash.     For the safety & comfort of all our canine & human guests, we respectfully request that dogs are left at home on special event days (unless specifically stated otherwise on the event page).    Guide dogs & other dogs used by our visitors for special reasons are always welcome.

Yes, you can! We have lots of picnic benches at both Clayton West and Shelley sites where you may eat your own food. There are also tables in the marquees at Shelley Station and The Cabin at Clayton West where you can eat your own food. Please remember to tidy up after yourselves and put your litter in the nearest bin! Please note that only food and drinks purchased at Whistlestop Valley may be consumed inside our eateries. We reserve the right to ask visitors to leave our eateries if you are found to be eating your own food.

No, Jurassic July is a themed Big Adventure with Spike Bonzo and his cheeky baby pterodactyl, Terry. If you are wanting to see LARGE Dinosaurs, please book on our Dino 2026 event on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July 2026.
